Frequently asked questions

How much does insurance for a cargo truck cost in Mexico?

For a medium truck worth $500,000 MXN in mixed commercial use, the typical annual premium is between $30,000 and $45,000 MXN. Tractor-trailers can exceed $80,000 MXN per year. With 3 or more units, discounts of 10-25% apply.

What coverage does a cargo vehicle need?

Comprehensive Coverage with Extended Liability is recommended. Extended Liability protects against damage to third parties caused by the transported cargo, mandatory on many routes and cargo types.

What discount applies for insuring a fleet?

3-5 units: 10%, 6-10 units: 15%, 11-20 units: 20%, 21+ units: 25%. These discounts are negotiated with the insurer and can be combined with low-claims bonuses.

How does the vehicle's age affect the premium?

New vehicles (0-3 years) have a higher premium because their replacement value is greater. Units 8-12 years old may have lower premiums but also a lower insured sum. From 13 years on, some insurers only offer limited coverage.

Types of vehicle insurance coverage in Mexico

For work vehicles or commercial fleets, these are the available coverage types:
