Frequently asked questions

Is the trip log mandatory in Mexico?

The SCT requires federal transport companies to keep records of their operations. The log may be requested during National Guard inspections or checkpoints. It's also useful internally for mileage control and liability in case of an incident.

Can I use it for personnel or cargo transport?

Yes. The format is generic and applies to any type of unit: cargo trucks, tractor-trailers, vans, service pickups or personnel transport. Just adjust the "Cargo type" field accordingly.

Can I generate a different log for each trip every time?

Yes, with no limit. Every time you generate a log, it downloads with the data you entered. You can generate one for each trip of the day for your entire fleet.

What legal information should a federal transport log have in Mexico?

To comply with SCT requirements and federal motor carrier regulations, the log should include: carrier or company name and RFC (tax ID), unit number and plates, cargo type and weight, origin and destination, dates and times, driver name and license number, and the responsible party's signature. This tool generates a PDF with all these fields. For special cargo routes (hazardous materials, oversized cargo) there are additional SCT regulatory requirements.

Can I use this log for passenger transport?

Yes, the format is adaptable. For passenger transport (school, corporate, tourist) adjust the "Cargo type" field to "Passengers" and the cargo field to "Number of passengers". If your service requires a specific format set by the SCT for your permit type, check the technical annex of your concession.
