What are the fines for expired documents in a fleet?
Fines for expired documents in federal transport can exceed $50,000 MXN per infraction (SCT / National Guard). For expired federal licenses, the fine ranges from $5,000 to $20,000 MXN. With expired insurance, besides the traffic fine, the operator assumes full civil liability in case of an accident. Keeping documents up to date is one of the best compliance investments.
How far in advance should I renew each type of document?
Recommended lead times to start renewal before expiration: Federal SCT License: 60-90 days (the process can take time if it requires a medical exam or training). Federal transport permit: 30-60 days. Vehicle insurance: 15-30 days (get quotes early to negotiate a better price). Vehicle emissions inspection: 30 days before the deadline period. Registration card: 30 days.
