How are CO₂ emissions calculated?

The formula

CO₂ (kg) = Liters × Factor × Units

Multiply the liters consumed per unit by the fuel's emission factor and by the number of units in your fleet.

How much CO₂ does a diesel truck emit per kilometer?

A diesel tractor-trailer emits on average between 0.75 and 0.90 kg of CO₂ per kilometer, depending on the load and engine efficiency. For a medium truck, the average is 0.42 kg/km. The diesel emission factor is 2.64 kg CO₂ per liter consumed.

How is a fleet's carbon footprint calculated?

You multiply the liters of fuel consumed by the emission factor: diesel = 2.64 kg CO₂/l, gasoline = 2.31 kg CO₂/l, CNG = 1.93 kg CO₂/l. Then multiply by the number of units and divide by 1,000 to get tons.

How many trees do I need to offset my fleet's emissions?

An adult tree absorbs approximately 22 kg of CO₂ per year, equivalent to 45 trees per ton of CO₂. This calculator automatically converts monthly tons of CO₂ into the number of trees needed to offset them.

Why does CNG emit less CO₂ than diesel?

Compressed Natural Gas has an emission factor of 1.93 kg CO₂/l, versus 2.64 for diesel, a 27% reduction. In addition, CNG emits fewer particulates and nitrogen oxides, improving local air quality.

How can I reduce my fleet's CO₂ emissions?

The main strategies are: improve fuel efficiency with preventive maintenance, optimize routes to reduce empty km traveled, train operators in efficient driving, and consider a gradual transition to CNG or more efficient units.
